  2. Opportunity Costs: Time Management, Hybrid Agenting Approaches

  3. Go Big: Platform Management, Branding Considerations

Vanessa writes Regency and historical romances featuring multi-cultural communities and powerful persons of color. Her award-winning series, Challenge of the Souls, Advertisements for Love, and The Bargain have attracted fans from around the world. In November 2018, she sold her Rogues and Remarkable Women regency romance series, the first featuring an Afro-Caribbean heiress and the dashing duke she unexpectedly falls in love with, to Kensington. She is a member of the Historical Novel Society and Romance Writers of America. Vanessa is a hybrid author with over 15 independent titles and 5 traditionally published novels and novellas with Pelican, Barbour, and Entangled publishers.

With a doctorate from Stanford University and master’s from Penn State University, STEM-centric, Vanessa’s books are crafted for the historical reader who seeks stories that showcase diverse communities and strong sisterhoods. For organizations such RWA, writing retreats, and women’s conferences, Riley has presented workshops on women in science, using technology in writing, and the historical intersectionality of Africans in England, South Africa, and the Caribbean.
